Midwest Energy Emissions Corp. (OTCQB: MEEC) and the Energy & Environmental Research Center Foundation Announce an Agreement Regarding Mercury Emission Patents

Midwest Energy Emissions Corp. (OTCQB: MEEC), a company which delivers cost effective mercury capture technologies to power plants and other large industrial coal-burning units in the United States and Canada, announced Thursday, December 19th, that they have signed ‘Amendment 4’ to their exclusive Licensing Agreement.

Amendment 4 provides the company with two new patents and two new patent applications in mercury emissions control. Through this agreement, the Energy & Environmental Research Center Foundation (EERCF) will establish equity ownership in Midwest Energy Emissions, with new IP and restructured license maintenance and royalty fee schedules.

The EERCF is the commercialization arm of the Energy and Environmental Research Center (EERC) at the University of North Dakota.  The EERC is the main research center in the world in the control of mercury emissions from sources such as power plants.

Mercury air emissions is a global issue which now has about 140 countries that have agreed to implement regulations to reduce emissions of the dangerous element.
